      Martine, Bob, and all,

I tried separating these 3 topics (music as PD therapy, anxiety
component of PD, and PD/Thyroid connectivity), but I couldn't express
myself. Excuse the confusion if I'm not clear, it just reflects how
   confused I am.

***** Comments regarding 'music', and 'anxiety' *****

In my french opinion regarding music/PD-Therapy, *anything* that
can help improve a patient's morale should be retained (while
respecting 'ethics' of course, although this statement could generate
more discussions, like "how about moving to a country which provides
an environment where the patient feels more comfortable, or where
   some 'needed' drugs are authorized...")

My Mom doesn't listen to music anymore. In fact, until when she
was recently diagnosed with 'para-thyroid problems', my Mom had been
*very* often in the OFF mood. And although her thyroid surgery hasn't
been performed yet (next week), she has totally changed and is much
more 'alive', like she used to be before PD. I do believe that her
hope that maybe-the-solution-is-coming-soon is what motivates her,
what turns her back ON. She quit watching TV, listening to the radio,
reading books or magazines, or having "chats" with people long ago (I
can't blame her for TV-shows, though ;-) ) It seems clear that her
motivation level was way down. Now, she seems more interested in
   what's going on outside.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your
responses to my question about potential PD-Thyroid connectivity. It
does create some hope, even if I don't think we could consider this
'survey' a big enough poll to be conclusive though (7 replies). But
like Edwin Partridge said: "I wonder ..." With my infinitesimal
knowledge about the brain, I would tend to think that there must be a
common link with these two. But I guess I know enough to know that we
don't know enough about these very two. Maybe some professionals have
   more to add to this?...

I won't expand on my fear that this surgery might fix the thyroid
   problem only...

   Frederic.
