Dr. Bob Fink indicated intention to further research the usage of apomorphine. FYI, there are several mentions of usage reported in the reviews portions of United Parkinson Foundation 1993 newsletter #4, Part 1. Dr. Ronald Pfeiffer mentions investigations by several groups in regard to injections to facilitate bowel movements. UPF '94 newsletter #1, Part 1, page 6: Dr. Sampaio of Lisbon concluded that if sinemet is dumped too fast by the gut, the ... apomorphine may hold it long enough to be transformed. (This is confusing in that he was using domperidone which is elsewhere said to empty the stomach faster.) switch to a second subject:Lewy bodies The gastrointestinal dysfunction in PD patients discussion was quite informational to me. The addenda review of gastroneurological meeting was also interesting ... and gave me desire to learn more. The Lewy bodies found in esophagi and colons of PD victims prompted me to wonder whether there are some dopaminergic neurons on all portions of the GI tract and perhaps the skin surface which is topologically contiguous to the GI tract. Another sentence on page 4 of Part 2 of the UPF 1993 newsletter #4 says the stomach is atonic ... and that Lewy bodies are found on postmortem ... and that Dr.Jesse Cedarbaum told us there are more neurons in the gut than in the brain. National Parkinson Foundation report volumeXV, issue II, 2nd quarter 9, page10 has an article 'completed' by Donna Dorros on constipation in PD. The inset appeal for colon tissue states that postmortem on colon samples of Sidney Dorros showed that the dopaminergic neurons were completely gone. Perhaps there will be more on this search of the extent of Lewy bodies. If they are part of the loss of sensation or skin thinning and 'allergy' that I have, perhaps skin sample testing of aging spots or ? might have Lewy bodies in neurons or dark matter neuromelanin? sincerely ... hoping these inputs will stimulate or help, ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ronald F.
