Subject: Re: PD and Hallucinations

Barbara,
I've been lurking for the past month or two and now want to ask some
questions of great concern to me. My mother-in-law has PD and it seems to
be progressing rapidly now. The hard part is that we live in different
states, so we get info somewhat "second hand." My question is in regard to
hallucinations. The last few times we have talked with the family, we are
told that Mom is hallucinating. She sees people that aren't there,
inparticular a little girl. She gets upset with people who "leave the
little girl out in the car," and my daughter was talking by phone to my
sister-in-law, when my MIL started screaming. When her aunt came back to
the phone, she said that her mother "saw acid running off a chair and it
was going to get the little girl." My SIL went through the motions of
wiping off the chair and told her the little girl would be fine, and it
satisfied her. Is this common with PD? Is it a medication problem?
Right now, I don't know what she is taking. My husband is going there this
week-end for a family event and is going to find out names and amounts of
meds that she is taking. My MIL is in her mid 60's--not at all old!!! Any
advice?

You can edit this and send it out to other participants, but I didn't know
if this would be upsetting to some, and didn't want to take the risk.
