I have a question about an issue that I don't believe has been discussed
here before. My mother has been taking sinemet (I forget the dosage) for
four months now and has received no noticeable benefit from it. From everything
I have read, the effects of sinemet are generally quite noticeable and
 relatively
immediate (i.e., you see an effect within a few hours). Her doctor has told
her to just give it more time and she is continuing to take it since it also
is not having any bad effects either. So my question is... are there some people
for whom sinemet does absolutely nothing? Her only other medications are
eldepryl and estrogen.
Is it possible that her diagnosis with PD was incorrect? She has seen two
neurologists with the same diagnosis. Also, her symptoms are the "classic" PD
symptoms so we have never really questioned the diagnosis. But now I am starting
to wonder. I thought sinemet had some effect for all PD patients. Needless to
say, we are very disappointed at the (lack of) results. Thanks in advance for
any insights.
