H.M. Laswi: Sinemet is not a cure and does not slow down the progression of PD. It is however a very effective form of replacement therapy and helps ease the symptoms- but does have side effects that sometimes can be helped by lowering the dose, or substituting part of the daily Sinemet with another drug such as Permax. Is your dad seeing a neurologist who specializes in PD? If not then at least get a consultation with one. All the family can benefit. Keep us up to date. Do you have a PD support group in your area?
