Hello--this is being sent by Peter's wife/caregiver, Camilla. We heard about this list at our local support group meeting Tuesday, and are glad to join, for ourselves and for the group (it seems noone else has e-mail access, so we'll pass things along, and relay queries from others in group) Peter was diagnosed (or rather, diagnosed himself) five and a half years ago but of course suspects he "had it" many years earlier. He retired in 1978 from his job as Head Humanities Librarian at Miami University here in Oxford OHIO (not Florida!) because of poor health. Camilla retired 10 years ago from a counseling job. Our two daughters and their families also live here, so that's a great comfort. At present, P's major problems are exhaustion constipation, and concern over cognitive loss. He has very little tremor and has never had dyskinesia. Currently he takes 4 Sinemet CR daily, and is a "slow-responder", according to his neurologist--can miss a pill with no immediate effects noticable. Over several days, he would get slower and more stooped, if he continued to miss doses. We walk outside in good weather (no pro blem with that) but his voice is weakening, and in combination with my own hearing loss, that IS a problem. I am curious whether others out there have similar experience with medication--no one else in our group seems to. We'll be glad for any input, and will share info with our support group also. Hope this brief "bio" is what you wanted. Thanks-- Peter & Camilla Flintermann, Oxford,OH
