Can anyone give me a reaction to or citation for the claim that blanket-tossing was a means of inducing labor in medieval times? I must have read such a claim in reference to the comical punishment of Mak in the Second Shepherds' Play. Since I'm new to this list, if this subject has been discussed before, responses could be sent directly to me. Thanks-- Richard K. Parker [log in to unmask] English Dept.
