Dear Charles: I started taking Sinemet by cutting 50/200 in four pieces.
The first week taking 1/4 at supper only (with food). Second week 1/4 at
breakfast and supper. Third week 1/4 at each meal. Forth week 1/4 at
breakfast and lunch and 1/2 tablet at supper. Fifth week 1/4 at lunch and
1/2 at breakfast and supper. Sixth week 1/2 at each meal. Very little
nausea on this regimen. After a couple more weeks you can take on an empty
stomach where Sinemet does its duty best. If nausea is a problem then, eat a
couple of soda crackers with the Sinemet dose.

Sinemet was slow showing me results - probably four weeks.

My experience with "smells" happened after pallidotomy. I had lost my sense
of smell years before. About two weeks after the pallidotomy I was going to
the basement and was practically overwhelmed by basement odors - laundry
soap, softeners, bleach, stale mustiness and dust. In fact it made me dizzy
for a few days and I kept out of there as often as I could feist off the work
on someone else. I got used to it. Cow barn odors were pretty awful then
too -but to be able to smell the lilacs again balanced things nicely. I
don't "notice" odors now unless I think about it - so I'm back working in the
basement.

Say hello to your dad for me.
