Hello to all. My father-in-law was diagnosed with PD in 1990 and has been
doing fairly well with his meds up until last Thursday. He developed a
severe case of edema and he, being a retired physician, took himself off of
the amantadine which he has been taking for quite some time. This had a
very adverse reaction on him (he essentially was unable to move - would
freeze for 10 to 15 minutes at a time) On Friday we contacted his
neurologist by e-mail and he answered within an hour saying that we need to
talk to his "meds nurse" since she keeps all of the charts with her. The
"meds nurse" is out of town so my father-in-law decided to start taking
extra sinemet (this puts him up to 7-a-day). My question to any one who
can answer until the "meds nurse" gets back, is how many sinemet can one
continue to take each day? He is at the high-end of the dosage and I'm
worried that this self-doctoring is going to cause him more harm than good
in the long run. Any comments, suggestions, recommendations, anything
would be very much appreciated.

Thanks. June Reynolds
