Judith Guttman: I think the best assist for difficulty in getting in and out
of bed, and turning in bed is a trapeze hanging overhead. There are a couple
of models - one attaches to the bed the other hangs from the ceiling (screwed
to a joist). Some people just tie a rope to the end of the bed to help pull
them up to a sitting position. For the bathroom problems a grab bar next to
the toilet and 2-3 grab bars in the shower one on each wall and a handle to
grab outside the stall or tub to assist getting out. A carpenter can find
the joists and install these safely.
