In response to your inquiry regarding the use of Pro-Banthine for the
treatment of a patient with uncontrolled drooling, please be aware that
Pro-Banthine is indicated only as an adjunctive therapy in the treatment of
peptic ulcer. One of the side effects of this drug is "varying degrees of
drying of salivary secretions" (copied from the Adverse Reactions section of
the drug's prescribing insert).

An alternative medication that is specifically indicated to reduce salivation
is atropine sulfate tablets. If not otherwise contraindicated, you may want
to ask your physician to determine whether the potential benefits of this
medication exceed its potential side effects. Like all medications, atropine
sulfate has a number of potential side effects that should be discussed with
your physician.

To address your concern about use of a drying agent only during social
occassions, the half-life of atropine sulfate is relatively short, so its
effects last only a few hours. This may allow you to take the medication
only when needed.
