Possible topics on sexuality to consider: 1) It seems fairly well known that PD can have a negative effect on the male sexual response, specifically, the ability to achieve and sustain penile erection. But what is the process by which this happens? 2) How is the autonomic nervous system affected by PD and what exactly is the role of the autonomic nervous system in male sexual response? 3) Do all male Parkinsonians sooner or later experience sexual dysfunction? Is it an unavoidable "hallmark" of the disease? 4) Very little, if anything, has been written about PD and female sexual respo nse. How is female sexual response impacted by PD? 5) One could assume that the autonomic nervous system in female PD sufferers is affected, as it is in males. How does this manifest itself in female sexual response? 6) For males and females, if we assume there is some degree of (physical) sexual dysfunction as a result of PD, is libido (desire) necessarily diminished also? 7) If we make the same assumption as in #6 for males and females, is the ability to achieve orgasm necessarily diminished also? 8) Corrective measures, advice, suggestions, ideas, help ...all of these will always be appreciated and appropriate as specific situations are described. That, after all, is what this Exchange is all about and why shouldn't apply to PD-related sexuality problems also? Thanks to all for your interest and support.
