Hello,

I recently joined this list and I have some questions I would like to ask the
 group.

My mother is 60 years old and was diagnosed with PD about five years ago.
 Originally, her
neurologist put her on Sinemet 25/100 3 times a day. Her reaction to this drug
 was
positive, but the side affects were not tolerable (she threw up 3-5 times a
 day).

She was then prescribed Sinemet CR and with help of Don-Peridone (a medicine we
 order from
Canada) and Lodysin (a medicine she gets it from her doctor) her nausea was
 reduced and she
was able to tolerate the Sinemet CR. In addition to the Sinemet CR, she was
 taking about
five other drugs to treat her constipation, headaches and other problems.

This lasted for about 18 months. However, last summer she started complaining
 that she was
getting some pressure in her chest. She describes it as if she has a ring
 around her neck
and/or a sucking tube inside her chest. Sometimes she describes it as a ball
 under her
sternum (in the middle of her chest). We took her to a gastrologist and did an
 endoscopy
and also checked her heart. The test results were normal, and we have been
 unsuccessful in
relieving her chest pressure.

During the last couple months, she noticed that during these chest pressure
 spasms her
speech slows down or slurs and sometimes it is hard to for her to speak at all.
 In the
beginning, it usually happened in the evening, especially if she got very
 emotional or
tired and it would disappear when she went to bed. But recently these spasms
 started
occurring in the afternoons and last from 20 min. up to 2-4 hours. She says
 that it helps
if she goes for a walk.

The other problem she has is her headaches. Again, the explanations I am
 getting are very
strange, but my mother describes that she has some air (or air pressure) in her
 head. She
also calls it an elevator effect. Every time we take an elevator together she
 asks me: "Do
you feel it, do you ? That s exactly what I have in my head." I don t really
 know what
to say because I don t feel it. She also says that she gets dizzy if she reads
 for more
than 15 min. or sometimes if she watches TV. She says the dizziness sensation
 is as if
her head were underwater.

Her neurologist is a very good doctor, but she can t explain wrong with my
 mother s chest
pressure or help her with her headaches. She referred my mother back to her
 internist with
these problems, but the internist just sent her back to her neurologist. It is
 clear to me
that they do not know what to do.

I am posting this e-mail with the hope that somebody on this list might have
 some
experience or ideas on how to control chest pressure and these types of
 headaches.
In addition, my mother is very constipated and only gets relief from enemas.

Any suggestions or ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated.
