In all accounts I have read of pallidotomy, the pallidotomy is preceded by
an MRI in order to locate the particular site(s) requiring surgical treatment.
I have been wondering if there is some other imaging technique which could do
the job other than MRI. My mother has PD and is doing well at the moment with
medication but she has a metal plate in her head making MRI impossible.
I have been wondering if this would rule her out as a future pallidotomy
recipient.
