Dear Carrie-- yes, back pain or pain elsewhere can be a PD symptom, according to several books we've read. The cause seems to be the rigidity and spasms of the muscles. Maybe you could find a reference to show the doctor? As for heredity and PD, there seem to be some cases where this is an element, but research is going on, and no one is -sure- yet.There are studies of twins underway to investigate this (see the list archives).
