Meeting Objectives
YPSN wants each member to live life to the fullest. This meeting addresses
the special needs of speech and voice in helping us communicate better. The
meeting will also help us tune our mental and physical state with discussion
on coping with depression and participating in physical exercise.
Guest Speakers
Lori Ramig, PhD, CCCP
Speech and Voice
Associate Professor, Department of Communication Disorders and Speech
Science, University of Colorado at Boulder, CO. She is the co-developer of
the Lee Silverman voice treatment program which has been successful with
hundreds of Parkinson's patients.
Neal Slatkin, MD
Coping with Depression
Staff physician, Department of Neurology, City of Hope National Medical
Center, Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology, University of Southern
California School of Medicine, Los Angeles and author of numerous
publications.
Beth Mirman, BA
Exercise
Graduate of Whitter College, she has studied body dynamics at Cal State LA
and attended the Body Work Shop at USC. Presently she is the physical
fitness instructor for the PD support groups at the City of Hope Medical
Center.

This year we are forced to ask for a registration fee to help defray
facilities, speakers, promotional material and other costs.. The
registration fee for this meeting is $15.00 per attendee. This includes the
lunch. For those unable to afford this fee, there are a limited number of
scholarships available. Early registration is important so that the number of
lunches ordered is correct. Send registration forms and fees (payable to

City of Hope has a large free parking area that is served by free trams.
Please park in this area and take the trams to the Conference Center.

From the San Fernando Valley: Take the 101 East to the 134 East to 210 East
to Buena Vista exit. Turn right on Buena Vista to Duarte Road, turn left to
City of Hope. Facility is on right.
From West Los Angeles: Take 10 East to 605 North to 210 West to Buena Vista
exit. Turn left off freeway on Buena Vista to Duarte Road, turn left to City
of Hope. Facility is on right
From Los Angeles International Airport: Take the 405 North to 10 East.
Follow directions from West Los Angeles above.
From Downtown Los Angeles: Take 110 North to Orange Grove Blvd., North to 210
