To Karl, Having an adverse response to Sinemet when first starting the drug is not unusual. For some, nausa, is the adverse response to Sinemet. This can be corrected depending on the form of Sinemet taken. If started on the Sinemet CR, the problem may be insufficient carbidopa. This may also be the case if started on Sinemet 10/100 or Sinemet 25/250. The usual approach is to ask your doctor for carbidopa pills called Lodosyn. Another approach is to take the Sinemet pill with food. This may reduce the effectiveness of the medication, but solves some of the stomach problems. I have one member who did not tolerate Sinemet for about 6 months. Now she is fine and enjoying the benefits provided by Sinemet. There are other adverse responses, or responses that may be assumed adverse by a doctor not specializing in PD. Seeing a movement specialist is the correct thing to do.
