He told me about a the use of electrodes implanted for an extended time at about the same site as where the lesion is made in a palidotomy, that essentially when the stimulator is on creates a temporary palidotomy. I do not know whether he or others have been doing this clinically, but I suspect that is what your wife's neurologist is talking about. If I get a chance later I will do a literature search. By the way- I opted for a drug study and now that I am on active drug (after almost certainly being on placebo for 6 months) has helped alot and bought me some time before I am forced to make a decision about surgery.
