Re: Consensus conference---Yes- there is a real need for unity here, and while someone pointed out a few months ago that the various groups do different research, which may be an advantage, I think the costs(in every sense) outweigh the benefits. Perhaps all support groups which have specific connections(financial support) with the various PD associations could write as a group, urging cooperation with the conference as a starting point.Your little anacdote might make an impression! Individuals who support the groups should also write. (We have personally told APDA that we won't contribute until they take the merger idea seriously.) Now is a time for action because of the Udall bill, and the orgs must realize how hard it will be to get it passed in this budget-cutting climate without a strong, concerted effort . Would you care to draft a "sample" letter which makes the points you feel are most important, that the List could take to meetings?-many folks won't trouble to write without specific suggestions.
