China's Deng Xiaoping has "advanced Parkinson's disease," but doctors are afraid to give him a new herbal medicine that could cure him, a Hong Kong paper said today. Quoting "a source close to the Chinese military," the daily said Deng, who turns 91 in August and hasn't been seen in public since February 1994, was believed to be "losing consciousness regularly."
