To Charles Meyer--as you see, I was unable to send this privately, so
hope it reaches you on the list. Perhaps others will also be interested.
What did I get wrong in your address. I wonder ? :-( Sorry!

Subject: Cisapride

You asked re: experiences with cisapride (Propulsid), and I have shared
this with another list member, but I think it was in private email, so hope
it's not repetitious for you.
Peter read about it first on the list, as a med used for indigestion and for
diabetics, which was also helpful in moving the stomach contents along. He
asked our neuro, who said he was "considering" using it with patients (PD)
and saw no objection. Peter started on it, because he has had chronic severe
problems with constipation. A couple of weeks later, his internist also
suggested Lactulose (Chronulac, Duphalac) and for over a month he has used BOTH
with surprisingly good results. Suggestion was:take 2 cisapride tablets
and 2 T. Lactulose about 15-30 min. before each meal. The cisapride is said
to "work" in the stomach, the Duphalac in the intestine. The improvement for
P. has been dramatic--and no noticeable side effects. The combination seems to
be what really does the trick--for him. Good luck-- Camilla Flintermann
