I too love sinemet : ) I just read Brother Art's post regarding the above subject which prompts this follow up missive. As a politician once said "In your heart you know I'm right". What Art so artfully (no pun intended) presented in his post is on all fours with this Parkey's feelings. Sure, I can list a great number of reasons why I believe I acquired PD. From being of Irish decent to being a recovering alcoholic. From exposure to pesticides (DDT et al ) to being exposed to large amount of wood preservatives (wood deck sealer). And on and on............... The fact remains, folks I got Parkinson Disease. Yesterday I had it, today I have it, but tomorrow I don't know if I will or not, for you see I live one day at a time. As you can tell I have truly accepted my disease and therefore, I must now concentrate all my efforts on living today as best I can. Accordingly, I will leave the research and speculation as to the cause of PD up to others who are far better qualified than I at this sort of thing. Again, as Art so judicially discerns, attitude is a major factor in our approach at living with this anomily. As it is asked "is my cup half full or half empty?" I choose to say mine is at least half full, if not more. I feel you can let this PD business either control my life or more importantly I can control it. Certainly, my choice is the later. So far medications of Sinemet CR, Permax and Eldyprl seem to be working from a physical standpoint. However my attitude and approach to the mental and emotional side is my responsibility. Quoting Art " today I am able to do< to enjoy< to hope." And that's all I ask for, TODAY. Thanks Art, for your pearls of wisdom. I hope and pray someone out there will benefit from all your sage remarks. I have!! ---- By the way, my roots go back to Tipperary Ireland. Do you suppose I got this thing from bad potatoes? Just kidding, of course. Pax-- Jim Ryan - [log in to unmask]
