I have experienced the Feldenkrais movement tapes in a meditation class and find them extraordinary. I've glad Celia added the background that I was not aware of. My mother (who lives 1200 miles from me) was diagnosed with PD about five years ago; she's the reason I joined this listserv. I feel that the PD has progressed rapidly; she's wheelchair bound. When I first saw the note about Feldenkrais earlier, I decided to take my tapes with me when I visit her next month. I'm very interested in her reaction physically and emotionally to these movements. What is particularly interesting with these exercises is that they are done with ease. One is encouraged always to be comfortable; if discomfort or pain is experienced, the instruction is to move more gently. If one is still uncomfortable, then can just experience the movements visually and your body will still experience the movement. Interesting, huh? I've seen the tapes advertised in New Age magazine recently. I will report on her experience when I return to my home in late August.
