I've read elsewhere (e,g, Duvoisin) that PD is basically a loss of autonomic function and that voluntary activity, even habitual, is relatively unaffected. For example I can still ski or ride a bicycle, because those things require attention; but walking also now requires attention, although it did not do so in the past.
