As a group, PD patients loose much more weight than the general population of the same age. However, the exact factors involved are not yet known. In fact earlier this year I participated in an initial study of this problem at the VA Medical Center in Baltimore. The initial results were submitted with a grant request to get funding for a full scale investigation. I have not heard anything yet about the initial results (there were five subjects) or the status of the grant request.
