Here's some of my thoughts on some recent postings:

1)What is NADH? - Well, it isn't a drug. It also goes by the name
"coenzyme 1' and is basically that - a supplement derived from natural
enzymes. I typed in and posted to the list about a month or so ago, an
article I had on it from Dr. Atkins, a complementary (both conventional and
alternative) medicine doctor in NYC. The article is a bit gung-ho, but gives
some useful info, like where to order it, etc., so I suggest anyone
interested in more info do a search on "NADH" to get my and everyone else's
previous input on the subject. Should you not be able to find this info, let
me knowo and I'll see if I can dredge it up.

2)What about drug reactions like to Reglan, possibly triggering pd - Well, I
also had a bad drug reaction to Compazine, primarily an
anti-depressant/anti-psychotic, but often prescribed for nausea, as in my
case. This reaction was almost seizure-like and the drug reference book even
describes it as causing possible pd-like side effects, which are supposedly
temporary. Well, whether or not this drug reaction caused it for me, I am
convinced it played a role in that: 1) if nothing else it could have
signalled perhaps the existence of an already-existing genetic susceptibility
to pd causing substances, which possibly had I or my doctor known, mayhe I
could have started then trying to build-up my resistence to this
susceptibility; 2) perhaps the reaction itself was the cause of my later
susceptibility to other pd toxins ( in the area of multiple chemical
sensitivities, I believe they speak of triggers and kindlings - some
substances may set the stage and others feed the fire, until it reaches a
level where symptoms manifest themselves as sensitivites to various
chemicals.).

3) possible causes like ethanol, radiation, automotive chemicals, etc. - I
don't know of any specific references of links between pd and these except
perhaps ethanol/alchohol, of which there's been a fair amount of discussion
recently. But, anything is still possible, especially cuz we're still trying
to identify causes, and each person is probably unique in exactly what
substance or combo of substances and what exposure levels and in what order,
etc., caused if for them. I do know that radiation can alter DNA and cause
mutations, perhaps man-made or even natural sources of radiation, have played
a part in our genetic susceptibility. In grad school I worked in a reactor,
and did my thesis r esearch on the effects of gamma radiatiation on the
oxidative degradation of cable insulation. Radiation, especially combined
with oxygen, can cause oxidative degradation of materials (what is also now
commonly refferred to as free radical damage, etc.) and is purposefully used
in this manner to cause accelerated aging of organic materials. Everything
organic degrades/ages in the presence of oxygen (hence part of reason for our
finite physical lifespans - ironic isn't it, cuz it also gives us life
through breathing!), and radiation simply speeds up this process. Other
chemicals can also initiate/add to this degradation, and perhaps when their
effects are synergistically combined with those of other substances, this
sort of chemically-induced accelerated aging also occurs very quickly.

4) J. Duggan - Thanks for the holistic article! I'm always glad to see
others also interested in all possible methods of treatments, but especially
the holistic ones, which are geared at the 'whole' person: the mind/body
connection, how one's outlook affects their health and quality of life
regardless of physical "cures", the power this gives one over their own
health, and the focus of holistic health on eliminating toxins and balancing
energies - perhaps particularly relevant to 'environmental' diseases.
