Here is a germ of an idea to toss around here on the net: "colonies" for people with Parkinson's -- not rest homes not adult daycare centers not communes just places to live where those of us who are solo can serve as caregivers for each other. I imagine a place where people have privacy, independence and mobility, as well as a supportive group of friends and access to quality medical and "alternative medical" care. Barbara Yacos mentioned that something like this is being developed in England. Any news from the U.K.? There is a dot on the map in the Oregon woods called Peedee. Truly. My father-in-law was born there in a log house with a canvas roof in 1917. It was once a real town, but now there is not even a store. One major drawback to picturing a PD Utopia there is the rainfall. It's not far from Valsetz which often wins the dubious prize of having the highest annual rainfall in the U.S. People experiencing SAD (seasonal affective disorder) times, as many of us do, need Sunshine. Or how about "a town called Hope"? Mary Y.
