Good day, I am Jeff Jones and am joining this group again after a lengthy hiatus when my net provider went south. I am a Systems Engineer for EDS (Electronic Data Systems. I date a lady, Becky, who was diagnosed with PD about 15 years ago. She is, with her neurologist's help, attempting to lessen her dosage of Sinemet by taking Permax. She also supplements her diet with amino acids, minerals, and other nutrients that are missing from our food. She has been experiencing a sharp, constant, pain in her right side that, at times travels all the way up and down her body. One guess of the cause has to do with slow bowel movements. Does anyone have any suggestions that may help get things moving better? I'd sure appreciate anything. The next question has to do with Becky's doctor's recommendation of having a pallidotomy if the current medication option doesn't pan out. We are attempting to find out from others what they think of this particular procedure. Does anyone know of any doctors in the U.S. who are experienced in this procedure. We know about Dr. Iacono (sp?) but were wondering about others. We are in the Seattle area. Is the Swedish doctor still considered the "expert" in this area? I am wondering about any results others may have had from having the operation. I'd also like to hear the perceptions of the spouse or significant other of those who have had the operation because people do perceive things differently. I'm done. Thank you in advance. Jeff "I could have done better."
