Hi Micheal My name is Judy Hanson my email address is [log in to unmask] My Mom has PD and lives in Brantford (Dad also had PD 20 years). A PD support group started in Brantford 2 years ago, Mrs. Robinson is the contact person she can be reached at 759-7317. They meet second Wed. of the month, 2:00PM at the Becket Building. Most PD patients in Brantford see a Neurologist from MacMaster who comes over to the Paris Hospital, I beleive his name is Dr. Low. However, a Parkinson Clinic is being set up in Hamilton. Ont. Health along with Blue Cross have covered all cost (20 yrs. of drugs and trips the doctor/Neurologist) When Mom was dignosed I joined the Victoria PD Society (smartest thing I could have done) monthly meeting quite often includes speaker from the movement disorder clinic in Vancouver. Last speaker was a Neurologist from University Hospital in London, Ont. Great way to learn about drugs, new treatments and their success or failure. Victoria also has a lending library (books and video's) as well as a counsellor on staff to answer any questions we may have, perhaps there's a Society near you.. Beware not all PD Society's belong to the Canadian Foundation. Therefore, may not appear on a list prepared by the Canadian Parkinson Foundation.
