So far I have not gotten into trouble over this, but may perhaps in the future in this era of student rights. One student did threaten me (and eventually the university) with his father's lawyers, but that was over a case of plagiarism. I did not budge (all I wanted was for him to admit & apologize), but then the evidence was too overwhelming. The deans and vp were in a bit of a tizzy for a while.
