The 1995 Parkinson's Unity Walk in New York City is history.

Over 500 people took part in the event despite dismal weather forecasts.
Contributions are still coming in and should hit the $50,000 mark.

There was NO RAIN in spite of Al Roker's glum assurance on Friday morning. A
storm front passed through Saturday night leaving a cool and windy Sunday
morning - even some sunshine by the afternoon!

Holly Robinson-Pete, star of the ABC television show "Hanging with Mr.
Cooper", literally kicked-off the event by booting the Official Parkinson's
Unity Walk football into the crowd. After an uplifting statement to the
gathering the actress left with her family to see Rodney Pete, her husband
and quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, defeat the New York Giants.

Walkers then traveled north along Riverside Drive in tight formation behind
the Parkinson's Unity Walk banner. Much thanks to an excellent team of
marshals led by the Tri-Block Association, a local volunteer group.

Closing ceremonies were held on the steps of Grant's Memorial. Grand Marshal
Earl Ubell, science editor for Parade magazine and former science reporter
for CBS News, spoke to the crowd despite recuperating from back surgery
earlier in the week. Joan Samuelson and representatives of the endorsing
organizations also addressed the gathering. (More details to follow)

A professional team videotaped much of the event. Plans call for footage
from this tape to be made available to support groups, organizations and
individuals.

All in all it was a wonderful day.
