Marcy, I meant "simply" not in the sense of reducing the complexity of the task ; rather, I meant "simply" in the sense of a focused attention on the goal I had in mind. To my mind, finding the tool to teach comprehension is beyond my own comprehension; creating the contexts that help make things matter to students is a task, however complex, I can at least envisage.
