Judy Segal's description of her daughter's assignment reminded me of the research paper one of my sons was required to do in senior English. The single topic assignment called for writing--one classification paper, one cause and effect paper, one comparison/contrast... (you get the idea). All these were to be joined together as THE RESEARCH PAPER! When I asked about the assignment, I was told to stay out of my son's life! I admire the work that hs teachers do--but I did not appreciate this response. Joyce Simutis
