Dear Danny, My wife Ginny, is a believer in alternative medicine. She's reluctant to take asperin for a headache, and since being diagnosed with PD 9 years ago, has tried a variety of non-traditional treatments including acupuncture, Reiki, homeopathy, meditiation and massage therapy. She was part of the DATATOP study of deprenyl for 6 years and is now trying NADH(without much effect after 5 weeks)in addition to Sinemet 7 times a day along with Eldepryl(deprenyl) and Parlodel(bromocriptine). Her message is to please suspend your own inclination toward alternative medicine and listen to your mother-in-law's doctor. The meds do have side effects but they also can improve her quality of life and her feelings of being a burden. She doesn't know if L-Dopa will help her and doesn't know when you can see an improvement, but many, many people on this list have been helped by these meds.Every patient is different so she needs to work with a doctor to iron out the best balance for her needs, but it is certainly worth trying. best wishs-- pete & gin morgan
