COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Lloyd Horrocks, Chairman and
Chief Scientific Officer of Neurovation Inc., Columbus, Ohio, has announced
the signing of a world-wide license with Hemisphere Ltd. for their
antidepressant product. It contains a unique combination of a selective
serotinin reuptake inhibitor type of antidepressant and lithium carbonate.
This product is expected to provide an earlier onset of action, lower side
effects, and efficacy in a greater proportion of patients with unipolar
depression as compared with antidepressant products now on the market.
In addition, Neurovation has been advised that the Investigational Review
Board at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden has approved the treatment
protocol for the management of Parkinsonism. This treatment involves the
stereotactical placement of patented microspheres containing dopamine
directly into the striatum of the patient's brain. Clinical studies involving
twelve patients are expected to begin shortly.
