My hat is off to Barbara for what has been and will continue to be a wonderful resource for the whole PD community. Many of us take material presented on this list server and share it with members of our support group and others. Thus, the material reaches well beyond the 900 current membership. I received a call yesterday that has me wondering. The caller, a good friend, had a request to have lunch at the facility dining facility of a major university. He would never turn this down, so he went. Upon arrival he was escorted to a private room where there were ten to twelve people sitting around a "board room" type table. A waiter entered and took everyone's order. When the waiter left, each person introduced themselves to my friend. Each person there was a high level executive in a major company. Each had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and all were in the closet about their PD. These people were "movers and shakers" in their companies. They controlled resources that could benefit many of us. Yet, because they were afraid that general knowledge of their PD may be detrimental, they choose to stay in the closet. I do not have an answer as to what can be done. I would like some ideas from the group. I can scream all I want, but when the president of XYZ company screams, someone listens. We need screamers that are heard. Regards, Alan Bonander Age 55, Diag 11 yrs, liquid meds, pallidotomy [log in to unmask]
