In defense of Reno's position - the messages so far seem to critisize
the media from not explicitly stressing the many serious side affects of PD
and
the medicines available. Perhaps this is only one side of the PD story.
Another side includes the many courageous and generous PDers who so
selflessly help others as evidenced daily on this digest.
No one can ask for sympathy and understanding all the time -particularly if
one wishes to be a contributing member of society. Further-one
needs to be a member of contributing society as long as possible-it is
prehaps the strongest medicine of all.
P{erhaps we should congratulate Reno for having the courage to admit
she has PD in public. How many of us can claim to have reached that high a
position?
Too much awareness of the significant side affects of PD can work strongly
against PDers- it can sharply restrict employment opportunities.
forcing many into the position of being considered invalids before they are
ready.
SO, my hat is off for Ms Reno-I have to believe she has the intelligence
to be aware of the many serious side affects of the disease and has struck a
strong blow for PDers demonstrating we are willing and able to be
contributors
rather than receivers-don't count us out yet!
