It appears to have some anti-depressant qualities too - perhaps, hypothetically, through a dopaminergic mechanism. Its mechanism of action is poorly understood, in part because the company that manufactures it stays clear of any reference to its potential dopaminergic properties since these are easily confused by physicians to signal the possibility of symptoms no tunlike those seen in tardive dyskinesia....buspar is probably clear of these nasty properties and, besides, dopaminergic does mot always mean EPS.
