On the Dec 15th edition of BBC's programme "Tomorrow's World" there was a short
item on
the implant of brain cells from a pig foetus to treat PD. The patient, Tony
Johnson, has had
Parkinson's for 30? years. The experimental treatment was carried out at Lehee??
Hitchcock
hospital Boston by Dr James Schumacher and Dr Ole Isacson. Only one side of the
brain was
treated in case of problems resulting from the implant but a marked improvement
in the patient
was reported.

The operation was carried out last April. Does anybody know more about this
research
programme?.
