the radiology dept. at the VA hospital in Omaha bought a Kurtzweil voice
recognition system for the rads to "transcribe" their film reading into
reports. Several things:
1- $$$$$$ very expensive
2- worthless.
3- even though, by definition the vocabulary is limited to radiology/
anatomy terms, and the speakers are using standard American English
(Medical terms?--maybe not;)) the K. system strangled on it. the results
were hilarious, but not useful. My husband had several MDs read the
Gettysburg Address into it. VERY FUNNY versions.
4- Kurtzweil is gathering cobwebs in some corner of the VA. Never--ever
used at all.
5- Maybe save your money and don't buy on this one.
