Yes, indeed, I do know about the connection between vitiligo and
thyroid problems. In 1990, a doctor who examined me for insurance
happened to be an endocronologist --- he noticed my vitiligo, and he
warned me about the probability of having a thyroid problem. Frankly, I
did not take the warning very seriously. I was healthy still, at that
time, and had never had any such problems.

About 1 1/2, maybe 2, years later I was in the hospital, dying, while
they tried to find why I had suddenly lost 30 pounds (from only 155) and
was counting, was experiencing extreme fear (for no reason -- I had no
idea that I was dying -- things like that never happened to me), was not
able to eat, and so on.

While I was being probed, x-rayed, mri-ed, ekg-ed, cat-scanned, GI-ed
sonogram-ed, angiogram-ed, etc, etc, etc, a simple blood test suddenly
disclosed that I had a red hot thyroid. Then it was easy to control it
with pills. My doctor prescribed ice cream, and I ate about a quart a
day and double meals --- I gained back about a pound a day.

I have never heard about a similar connection between vitiligo and
Parkinson's disease. But I am just wondering if perhaps this might be
something that no one has ever noticed yet.
