From: Brian Symonds <[log in to unmask]> Hello Norman Tyrosine and Tryptophan are not the same amino acids. Tryptophan is available in Canada on a prescription basis. A few years ago, there was a contaminant in the tryptophan that one company in the US was selling, and some folks got ill from that brand of it (I don't know if that company cleaned up its act and stills sells it or if they no longer exist). That company had not been allowed to sell tryptophan in Canada, and there were no cases of illness in Canada. However, the Food and Drug people took tryptophan out of the herbal stores and made it prescription, and have never changed its status back.
