Where can one find the article you refer to about alcohol and the PD
patient?  The subject of brain chemistry and emotions is fascinating.  I'd
like to read more about it.
 
I find interesting the reaction to the suggestion that depression may have
something to do with the symptoms of PD. For years, the medical
profession diagnosed women's complaints as merely being those of a weaker
sex. "Just plain crazy" was an explanation for any odd behavior on the
part of female-family members. Any suggestion of hormones and their
influence was unheard of by the general populace. Popular opinion was
that it wasn't unusual for women to suffer such infirmity because of
their gender. Society did not question this philosophy. A good movie
about this subject is called: "Tom and Viv".
 
Fortunately, PD affects both sexes.  Lack of research due to sexism is
not a factor.
