There has been much discussion on the list of pallidotomy. The Parkinson's Disease Foundation would like to advise any patient considering this procedure to seek first the advice of a movement disorder neurologist. Many centers are setting up pallidotomy programs, some of them without a movement disorder neurologist on staff. Some of those centers are not familiar with the needs of a patient with Parkinson's, and patients risk receiving sub-optimal post operative care.
