I would like to refer you to a great article in the February
issue of ONE STEP AHEAD: The Disability Resource. The headline on the
front cover story is "Where parents can find help with financial
planning." The inside story discusses the estate and financial planning
problems of special families- and persons with disabilities.
The author, Ben Matlin, discusses three programs- ASK, EPPD and
the NILP. ASK is a financial planning firm in Baltimore which does pure
financial planning. It does not charge a fee for services because it
makes money off of the sale of a life insurance policy. The EPPD program
is national program which charges flat fee for life planning counseling
so that there is No perceived pressure to buy products.
The NILP program doesn't do any planning. It is simply a
clearinghouse. It can refer you to life planners, attorneys, advocates,
etc. around the country (home page is http://sonic.net/nilp )
You can check out the other resources of Evan Kemp's
organization- the one that publishes the newsletter - and even subscribe
by going to their home page on http://disability.com
        Check out this great article.
