My father is in the late stages of PD, so this post may be depressing and
some may not want to read on.

My father has had PD for over 20 years. When his behavior became
psychotic, they put him on Clozaril, but his behavior became even worse
and his mental altertness decreased, so they took him off.

However, recently, he is becoming very belligerent and even violent,
although he is confined to a wheel chair. He won't put on clothes, won't
take his medicine sometimes, etc. This behavior is totally opposite of
what he used to be like. He lives with my stepmother, but my family
thinks its time to put him in a nursing home. My stepmom is very
stressed and her as well as my father's safety is at issue now. What I
would like to know is if there is any other anti-psychotic drug that may
make living with my father more tolerable and forestall his residence in
a nursing home. He still recognizes his family.

My family seems to think that his psychotic episodes are part of PD and
no drug will alleviate them. What about decreasing his PD drugs? Could
that change his behavior for the better?

By the way, his neurologist seems to think that the periods when his
blood pressure fell way too low, caused brain damage. So don't let your
blood pressure get too low.

Thank you for any suggestions.
