Pat S.
Your situation in the classroom is similar to mine and the fact that you are
getting assistance from those around you is also on my mind. If it wasn't
for others doing extra I don't know if I could get through five full days.
When you mention telling people because they're going to notice something
different about you anyway, I'm reminded of my Dr's comments. It was my
"what do I have" appointment and my description of having trouble keeping my
balance was met with the question, "Just how much do you drink?" I thought
it funny and unfortunately had wine with dinner the night before, probably
the first I'd had in months, so had to tell him that. Luckily, he didn't
say, "oh sure" because of course a visit to the neurologist confirmed a PD
diagnosis, not a drunken stupor. So, anyway seeing me stumble going around
corners could be observed as a substance abuse problem if I don't share my
plight.
Have you talked to your state retirement people about disability retirement?
I will never make twenty years, getting into full-time school work late (49
yrs. old, college graduation at age 41) So will hope the retirement pay
isn't too awfully small - another consideration.
It's getting late. Thank goodness for Presidents' Day, no school tomorrow.
Hope you have a holiday too.
Thanks for your response,
Patricia
