I am perplexed by your wife's reaction to propulsid, since I thought one
of its functions was to speed the digestive process and get sinemet to
the brain more efficiently, thus cutting down on the "off" time.  It
doesn't seem to have worked that way with her.
 
Since my neurologist wouldn't prescribe propulsid (not enough research),
I looked around for an alternative and came up with...popcorn.  I keep a
bowl handy, and when I'm off, I eat some.  It speeds up the digestive
process, makes the medicine kick in faster, and helps with constipation, too.
 
Can't hurt; might help.
