The following is being posted in our local Houston area PD news
letters.

                                                     Morris K. Udall
Bill
                                                               HR1462
                                                                S684

According to Jim Cordy winner of this year's Sidney Dorris National
Parkinsonian of the year award, twenty six senators and ninety five
members of the U.S. House of Representatives have agreed to co-sponsor
the Udall Bill. Senator Hatfield from Oregon hopes to get the bill out
of committee and into the senate in March. We need 25 more senators and
all the house members we can get to agree to cosponsor the bill.
In Texas neither senator Gramm nor Hutchison have agreed to co-
sponsor the bill and only a few representatives are on board. The bill
will provide desperately needed funds for Parkinson research in the
amount of $100 million per year for the next five years and will
encourage researchers to seek out alternative treatments and ultimately
the cure.. Many now believe that a cure is within reach and spending
this money now would ultimately save Americans billions of dollars as
the baby boomer generation approaches the age when Parkinsons is most
likely to strike. Please call or write to your state representative and
to Senators Gramm and Hutchison and ask them to co-sponsor this all
important bill.
