Hi, everybody,
I know we've discussed sleep meds ad nauseum, but I have one that
you may want to try.
I saw a pain specialist the other day, and we got around to talking
about PD. I told him my neurologist refused to prescribe sleeping pills
(I forget why), even though I was having a lot of trouble sleeping. So this
Dr. prescribed Desyrel (trazadone HCl), 1/3 to 1/2 tablet nightly.
Well, this stuff worked so well that I couldn't get up until 2:30 pm
the next day!! Of course, I didn't want this to happen again, so I didn't
take anymore until a few days later when I thought I would try it again.
The first time I'd taken 1/2 tablet; this time I took 1/3 tablet. To
make a long story longer, it really helps. There were two days in row this
past weekend when I didn't even have to take my afternoon nap. No drowsiness
the next day; no waking up in the middle of the night. I forgot to take it
last night, and I was back to the insomnia.
I think probably the first time I was catching up on all the sleep
I'd missed over the past two years (just kidding--I know you can't do that).
But, anyway, for what it's worth, you may want to consider this if you can't
sleep.
